Col George R Crook

Ret. Col. George Roger Crook

Retired Col. George Roger Crook, 79, died Nov. 5, 2011, at VNA/Hospice House in Vero Beach. He was born in Austin, Texas, and lived in Vero Beach since 2001, coming from Rockledge. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University at Abilene, Texas, and later received his master's of education from Johns Hopkins University, Homewood Campus in Baltimore, Md. He retired as a colonel after 26 years with Army Aviation, having served in Vietnam and Iran. Following his army retirement, he worked 19 years at Kennedy Space Center as a Lockheed project manager. He was a member of Military Officers Association and Army Aviation Association. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Nancy of Vero Beach; son, Carl W. Kuehner of Cocoa; sisters, Karen Lee Brooks and Dorothy Ann St. Germain, both of San Angelo, Texas; and eight grandchildren. Services: No local services are scheduled at this time. An inurnment with military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory in Vero Beach. Gus Francis 1948-2010 Church Point, Louisiana

Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, November 29, 2010 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Gus Francis, Sr, 62. Mr. Francis, a native of Houma, La. and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 12:10 P.M. Saturday, November 27 at his residence. Entombment will be in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point. Survivors include two sons, Gus Adam Francis, Jr. and wife Traci of Basile, La. and Tromie Francis and his companion Tyla Meche of Church Point; three daughters: Tina Higginbotham and husband John and Brandi Francis and companion Shane Matte-all of Church Point-Tina Boyd and husband Clifford of Venice, La.; Tida Francis Albritton and Augusta Francis; six sisters: Augusta Sister Francis and Andrea Parfait of Houma, La, Theresa Verret of Dulac, La, Octavia Albrecht of Miss, Lucretia Sanchez of Donaldsonville, La. and Patricia Frentz of Patterson, La.; two brothers, Paul Francis of Houma and Andrew Francis of Atlanta, Ga. and fifteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Emily (Billiot) Francis; five brothers: Frank, Daniel, Gabriel, Hurbert and Henry Francis and four sisters: Emily and Virginia Francis, Hazel Henterson and Ann Trosclair. The family requested that visiting hours begin at 10:00 A.M. Sunday, November 28 and continue uninterrupted until the time of the services on Monday. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday. Mr. Francis was a captain in the tug boat industry along the Gulf Coast for a number of years. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War, he will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the funeral home just before the services.

Passing of David A Thompson

I received an e-mail from Dave Tisdale yesterday informing me of the passing of David A. Thompson. He passed on March 17,2011.He was a Cpt with 7/1st. I am trying to find a picture of him and an obituary with more information about him to post.

Alberto "Doc" Taylor D Trp. 68 Sgt.

 Albert  passed away 4 a.m. this morning, July 16th, 2011.  His last wishes were to be cremated and no funeral service. His wife Maria Elena along with Bill Beaver ( C Trp67-69) were at his side at the time of passing.  Albert  & Maria Elena made their first Blackhawk Reunion in Tampa & haven't missed one since.  Albert will be missed. They have 2 children Jennifer and Troy and a new grandbaby.  This is all the info I have right now.

Sue and I will surely miss the comradery we shared with Al and Maria at the past reunions. Both were out going and led the rest of us out to the dance floors. Our sympathy goes out to Maria and children in this time of loss.

John P. Swanson, 63, of 2382 Lakeside Drive, Ashville, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, Fla.

He was born Aug. 27, 1947, in Jamestown, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Swanson.

He attended Southwestern Central Schools and served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Jamestown Community College in 1979 and a 1983 graduate of LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas. He was an employee of Truck-Lite and he retired from Betts Industries in June 2009.

John is survived by his wife, Linda Swanson of Ashville, whom he married on Aug. 12, 1977; a daughter, Sarah (William) Furman of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; a sister, Jean (Daniel) Davies of Busti and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Swanson.

John had a God-given gift for repairing cars, motorcycles and snowmobiles. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and did some volunteer work in Alaska, Texas and Florida. He was an avid reader. John enjoyed interacting with friends and family.

He was a member of Zion Covenant Church, where he had served on the council.

A memorial service will be held at Zion Covenant Church on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Pastor Rick Miller will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Word of Life Ministries, 13247 Word of Life Drive, Hudson, FL 34667 or Zion Covenant Church, 520 Fairmount Ave., Jamestown.

"Swannie" served in B troop around '67-'68. I just found his obituary today. Sorry it took so long, John.

Tracy L. Perry Sr.
Tracy Lee Perry Sr., 59, of Johnsonville, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008 in a Lake City hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 in the Rehobeth Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at the Rehobeth Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hemingway.
Mr. Perry was born in Williamsburg County, a son of Dorothy Evans Perry Poston and the late Hinson Perry. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer. During the Vietnam war he served as a helicopter pilot where he received the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He also completed the Primary Helicopter School (Officer Rotary Wing Aviator Course) and the AH-1G Cobra Transition/Gunnery Course Class 71-18. He was a member of Rehobeth Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a graduate of Hannah-Pamplico High School.
Mr. Perry was predeceased by a son, Tracy Lee Perry Jr.; and a brother, J.D. Poston Jr.
Survivors include: his wife, Sylvia Cox Perry of the home; daughter, Beth Perry Baxley of Lexington; son-in-law, Derek Baxley of Lexington; grandchildren, Nathan Baxley, Anna Kaitlin Baxley and Kierstin Baxley, all of Lexington, and Christopher Perry and Seth Turner, both of Johnsonville; mother and step-father, Dorothy P. Poston (J. Dorris) of Pamplico; brothers, Gene Perry (Alice) of North, Mike Poston (Terri) of Conway and David Poston (Marie) of Pamplico; sisters, Katie Hayne (Randy) of Florence, Jowendel Watson (Pat) and Rachel Poston, both of Pamplico.

Tracy Perry was from Johnsonville, SC..which is close to Myrtle Beach, SC.
Also I gave wrong info about his Rank.... Tracy was a 1Lt in Vietnam and after being RIF...he came back on active duty as a WO.
